"Greenstone" or
Chlorastrolite is
Michigan's State Gem, it is a variety of the mineral pumpellyite and is found
chiefly as a small, green, rounded beach pebble with a "turtleback"
pattern. Although Greenstone is a very rare mineral, it can still be found on Isle
Royale and in some of the mine waste piles of the Copper Country.
